Die Palästinenser Saïd und Khaled sind seit ihrer Kindheit gute Freunde.
Eines Tages werden sie von einem Bekannten namens Jamal dazu
bestimmt, sich als Selbstmordattentäter in Tel Aviv in die Luft zu sprengen. Die voraussichtlich letzte Nacht ihres Lebens dürfen sie noch einmal im Kreise ihrer Familien in Nablus im Westjordanland (Westbank)
verbringen. Ihr Vorhaben muss streng geheim bleiben, so dass ihnen ein
wirklicher Abschied von ihren Angehörigen verwehrt ist. Am nächsten
Morgen werden sie an die israelisch-palästinensische Grenze gebracht.
Doch dann verläuft die Operation nicht wie geplant.

Paradise Now is the story of two young Palestinian men as they embark
upon what may be the last 48 hours of their lives. Saïd and Khaled are
two childhood best friends. One day, Saïd is approached by Jamal, a
point man for an unnamed Palestinian organization who informs Saïd
that he and Khaled have been chosen to carry out a strike in Tel Aviv.
