Achtzehn Jahre nach den Dreharbeiten zu Bait / House kehrt Amos Gitai
zu dem Ort seines ersten Filmes in West-Jerusalem zurück. Wie ein
Archäologe erforscht er die Veränderungen an dem Gebäude, aber auch
der Gegend. Dabei trifft er auch den ursprünglichen Besitzer des Hauses.
Alles scheint unsicher – das einzig Konstante scheint für Gitai das Leiden
der enteigneten palästinensischen Familie zu sein.

Eighteen years after House, Amos Gitai returns to the setting of his first film to observe the changes in the new residents as well as in the neighbourhood. The filmmaker works like an archaeologist, revealing a complex labyrinth of destinies. He describes a series of concentric circles around the house and its neighbourhood, underlining the unstable situation of the Israelis who came to occupy this part of Jerusalem. To Gitai the only constant is the suffering of the expropriated Palestinian family. "To see something that is yours but to be unable to go inside, words cannot describe it," says Palestinian doctor Mr. Dejani at the end of the film, in front of the house where he was born.
