Eines Tages öffnet Rivka, eine orthodoxe junge Frau, einem fremden
Mann die Tür. Sie wird von ihm brutal vergewaltigt. Nicht nur, dass sie
mit diesem furchtbaren Ereignis fertig werden muss, auch ihre Ehe mit
Motl ist in Gefahr. Gemäß dem religiösen Gesetz gelten für einen Kohen
– jemanden, der eine besonders hohe Stellung innerhalb des Judentums
hat – besondere Regeln, wie z. B. dass er keine vergewaltigte Ehefrau
haben darf. „Die Regisseurin nähert sich ihren Figuren und deren Nöten
mit genauem Verständnis und mit viel Sympathie. Sie unterläuft gängige
Vorstellungen von der Position der Frau im orthodoxen Judentum und

When Rivka, a young Orthodox wife, opens the door for an unknown
man, she is raped by him. She must come to terms with this horrible
event, but she also has to worry about her marriage with Motl. For the
religious law a Cohen – who has a distinct personal status within
