Diana, Katya, Kristina und ihre Leidensgenossinnen sind osteuropäische
Frauen, die als Zwangsprostituierte aus ihren Heimatländern verschleppt
wurden. Nachts werden sie in der Wüste Sinai von Beduinen verschachert und nach Israel gebracht, um in einem Bordell zu arbeiten. „ Amos Gitai erspart uns nichts, wir müssen uns jede Einzelheit ansehen. Seine beiden Hand-Kameras sind ganz nah dran an den Protagonisten. Sie umkreisen sie, wie ein Hund die Herde. Gitai macht den Zuschauer so ebenfalls zu einem Betroffenen, und er weiß, wovon er erzählt. Er hat
mehrere hundert Seiten von Zeugenaussagen von verschleppten und zur
Prostitution gezwungenen Frauen gelesen, die von Menschenrechtsorganisationen in Israel veröffentlicht wurden. Er sagt gar, dass das, was er dort gelesen hat ‘noch schlimmer ist als das, was in seinem Film zu sehen ist’.“ (Nana A.T. Rebhan)

Diana, Katya, Kristina and their fellow sufferers are Eastern European
women who are dragged away from their home countries. At night they
are bartered away by some Bedouins to work in a brothel in Israel. Amos Gitai: „(…) cinema has contributed to a kind of exotism of prostitution and that's why this film takes this kind of concrete language about it, not metaphorical but concrete, about the trade of women and about prostitution. To open another front with cinema itself, cinema has been mystifying, has remained in a sort of 19th century idea about brothels, call girls and so on. And actually now, prostitution takes a very brutal slave trading attitude and should not be romanticized in any way.“
