Wir schreiben die 1920er Jahre – die guten alten Tage des Fußballs. Der
jüdische Wäschereibesitzer Ede Minarik hat nur ein Ziel vor Augen: Das
Fußballteam Csabagyöngye SC („Perle von Csaba“) muss unbedingt in
die erste Liga kommen. Er rekrutiert die Spieler, bezahlt die Gebühr für
den Fußballplatz und feuert alle mit Begeisterung an. Doch leider wird
Ede von Schuldeneintreibern und Talentsuchern verfolgt. Eine herzerfrischende, übermütige Komödie – nicht nur für Fans des guten alten Fußballs – im Stile eines Stummfilms.

The 1920ies – the good old days of football. Jewish laundry owner Ede
Minarik has only one thing in mind: the football team Csabagyöngye SC
(„Pearl of Csaba“) has to get into the first league. Ede recruits the members of the team one by one, he pays the rent for the football field, and he tries to stimulate his team with his own fiery enthusiasm. Unfortunately he is incessantly harassed by debt collectors as well as team recruiting agents. A charming and hilarious comedy in the style of a silent movie.
