Beit Berl, Israels größtes akademisches College, wurde in den 70- er Jahren gegründet und beruht auf einem Ausbildungsinstitut für LehrerInnen und EmigrantInnen, das bereits Ende der 40-er Jahre aktiv war. Das College wurde in Erinnerung an Berl Katznelson (1887-1944), dem geistigen Anführer der Arbeiterbewegung in Palästina, errichtet. In den 60-er und frühen 70-er Jahren
gab es erste Anstrengungen, das Institut in eine Universität umzuwandeln. 1989 erhielt es die volle Anerkennung. Neben zahlreichen Lehrgängen, gibt es auch eine Reihe von Kursen und Instituten, wie The College of Art in Kalmania und The Arab Teachers’ Training Institute. Die Anzahl der StudentInnen beträgt 7000.

Beit Berl College is the biggest academic college in Israel. It was established in the 70s on the foundations of the training institute for teachers and immigrants, that had been active at the location since the end of the 1940s. The college was established in memory of Berl Katznelson (1887-1944), the spiritual leader of the Labour movement in Palestine. In the 60s and early 70s, various proposals to turn the institute into a university were made. In 1987 it was granted full recognition. Together with the numerous study specialties the college offers courses and institutes, like The College of Art at Kalmania, and The Arab Teachers’ Training Institute. Beit Berl College has 7000 students.

Die Ma'ale School of Television, Film and the Arts, eine weltweit einzigartige Institution, wurde 1989 gegründet. Sie versucht eine Verbindung zwischen jüdischer Tradition und Moderne, wie auch zwischen religiöser und säkularer Welt zu schaffen. Folgende drei Kurse werden angeboten: Regie/Produktion, Drehbuch, weiters Reportage/Schnitt und Fernsehmoderation. In Jerusalem
beheimatet, präsentiert die Schule auch ein Abbild der multikulturellen Gesellschaft in Israel. Lehrkräfte, StudentInnen und AbsolventInnen sind verschiedener Herkunft und alle fördern einen offenen Dialog, der sich durch Zuhören, Beobachten und Toleranz entwickelt.

Ma'ale School of Television, Film and the Arts is the only institution of its kind in the world. Founded in 1989, the school aims to build bridges between Jewish tradition and social experience, as well as between the religious and secular worlds. Three courses are offered: a Direction and Production Track, a Screenwriting Track, and a Reporting, Editing and Television Moderation Track.
Located in Jerusalem, Ma'ale brought a voice to the multi-cultural mosaic of Israeli society. Its teachers and students come from diverse backgrounds. Students, teachers, and graduates all foster an open dialogue - the kind that comes from listening, observing and being tolerant

Tel Aviv University’s Department of Film and Television wurde 1972 gegründet und hat über 700 Studierende. Das Studium dauert drei Jahre und den Anfang bilden Kurse in den Bereichen Film und Fernsehen. Im zweiten Jahr kann zwischen drei Studiengängen gewählt werden: Produktion, Drehbuch und Filmkunde. Darüber hinaus gibt es noch eine Reihe interdisziplinärer
Veranstaltungen in Bereichen wie Informatik, Anthropologie und BWL. Das Department of Film and Television hat hauseigene Fernsehstudios und ist im engen Kontakt mit der Fernsehindustrie.

Tel Aviv University's Department of Film and Television was founded in 1972, and has about 700 students. Undergraduates begin their three years of studies with a year in general film and television studies. During their second year, students choose one of three study tracks: Production, Scriptwriting and Cinema Studies. The program also offers a unique interdisciplinary
approach, combining film studies with another discipline, such as Computer Science, Anthropology, or Business Administration. The Department is equipped with television studios and is firmly intent on making a significant contribution to the television industry.

Tel-Hai College ist eine unabhängige akademische Einrichtung, die 1996 im Rahmen eines staatlichen Programms zur Erweiterung erzieherischer Ausbildung in Israel ins Leben gerufen wurde. Das College bietet neben Kursen in Sozial- und Computerwissenschaften und den Humanwissenschaften auch ein großes
Angebot an weiterführenden Kursen im Bereich Erziehung. In naher Zukunft sind Diplomstudien geplant. Aufgrund seiner Lage im äußersten Norden Israels beschränkt sich Tel Hai nicht nur auf eine pädagogische Ausbildung. Es versteht sich als unpolitisches College, wo die Kultur der Toleranz und des Pluralismus
vertreten ist. Tel-Hai ist ein lebendiges Modell von Zusammenleben, wo die jüdischen, arabischen, drusischen und kaukasischen Gemeinden der Region gemeinsam in einer Atmosphäre der Toleranz zusammen lehren und lernen.

Tel-Hai College is an independent academic institution, established in 1996 as part of a national effort to extend academic educational opportunities into every area of Israel. The College offers undergraduate degree programs in the Life, Social and Computer Sciences and the Humanities, and a broad range of
continuing education programs. Graduate degree studies are planned for the near future. Because of its location at Israel’s farthest northern border, Tel-
Hai’s mandate extends far beyond providing educational programs. It is an apolitical college with an institutional culture of tolerance and pluralism. Tel-Hai is a living model of coexistence, where faculty and students from the region’s Jewish, Arab, Druze and Circassian communities study and interact in an atmosphere of pluralism and tolerance.

The Sam Spiegel Film & Television School

Die Sam Spiegel School wurde 1989 von der Jerusalem Foundation und dem israelischen Erziehungs- und Kulturministerium gegründet. Benannt wurde sie nach dem legendären Hollywood- Produzenten Sam Spiegel, der in den 20-er Jahren vor seiner Karriere in den USA als Pionier in Palästina lebte. In seinen letzten Lebensjahren hielt er sich oft in Israel auf, und mit seinem
Nachlass wird die nach ihm benannte Schule unterstützt. Die Sam Spiegel School ist eine unabhängige Non-Profit-Organisation und ihr Lehrpersonal unterrichtet in den Bereichen Spielfilm, TV, und Kunst. StudentInnen und AbsolventInnen der Schule gewannen mehr als 180 internationale Preise. Zu ihrem 15- jährigen Jubiläum produzierte die Schule eine Retrosepektive auf
DVD mit den besten Filmen von SchülerInnen aus verschiedenen Jahrgänge.

The Sam Spiegel School was established in 1989 by the Jerusalem Foundation and the Israeli Ministry of Education and Culture. It is named for legendary Hollywood producer Sam Spiegel who toiled as a young pioneer in Palestine in the 20's before embarking upon his epic cinematic career. In his final years, he
often stayed in Israel. Today, the royalties from Sam Spiegel's films help support the school that bears his name. A non-profit organization directed and staffed by professionals in the fields of motion pictures, television, and the arts, the Sam Spiegel School is independent. Students and graduates have won more than 180 international awards. In honour of its 15th anniversary year,
the school produced a DVD retrospective of the most outstanding 50 films created by its students over the years.
