Vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wohnten über 3200 Jüdinnen und Juden in der slowakischen Stadt Topolc?any. Nur 550 von ihnen überlebten die Konzentrationslager. Nachdem sie in ihren Heimatort zurückgekehrt waren, wurden sie erneut Opfer: im September 1945 kam es zu einem furchtbaren Pogrom. Regisseur Dušan Hudec interviewte Überlebende, aber auch Täter. Die Premiere des Films hätte im Mai 2004 im öffentlichen Slowakischen Fernsehen stattfinden sollen. Doch wenige Tage vor der Ausstrahlung wurde sie abgesagt. Der Grund dafür waren rassistische und antisemitische Äußerungen von einigen der interviewten Personen.

Before the Second World War over 3,200 Jews lived in the Slovak town Topolc?any. After the war 550 remained, and today there are none. Those who returned from the concentration camps became victims of a pogrom in September of 1945, long after the liberation. This film by Dušan Hudec examines how and why something such as this could have happened. „It was Slovaks and not Germans who decided to complete the Aryanization of Topollcany. Hudec spoke not only with survivors, but also with people whose words serve as a chilling reminder that anti-Semitism is not a closed chapter in history.“
