Screenings for Students
We are particularly committed to raising awareness of the rise in anti-Semitism and racism, and to countering these issues, through information conveyed via cinema and discussions with pupils. We look forward to exciting school cinema screenings!
Before the film, there will be a short introduction by a film educator. After the screening, there will be a discussion lasting around half an hour, during which the pupils can express their emotions and thoughts, ask questions and discuss the film together.
In preparation, pupils should have learnt the key facts about the Nazi era. For the (highly recommended) follow-up work, you can find free educational materials at the following link: https://film-kultur.de/wp-content/uploads/die-unsichtbaren_fh.pdf

In 1943, Goebbels declared the Reich capital Berlin to be “judenfrei”; 35,000 Jewish Germans living in Berlin had been deported, whilst 7,000 managed to go into hiding. Four of them recount their personal stories on camera, supplemented by gripping dramatised scenes. They show how the persecuted ‘dashed’ from place to place to hide from the Gestapo, constantly fearing discovery, denunciation or deportation. These Jewish men and women were supported by helpers who resisted and risked their own lives by, for example, providing accommodation, transport or food. A moving and instructive film – and a particular boon for educational purposes.
