INSIGHTS
Description:
For the first time, deaf witnesses of National Socialism speak for themselves. Told through sign language, the film reveals a history of Nazi persecution that has long remained overlooked. Moving between Austria and the United States, personal memories recount exclusion, control and violence, as well as solidarity within the deaf community. Deaf witnesses recount the discrimination they experienced, the exclusion from society and the persecution of deaf Jews.
Through signed testimonies, the film creates a space of awareness that invites both deaf and hearing audiences to encounter a largely unknown past.
