In 1945, in bomb-ravaged Nuremberg, the Allies prepare for an unprecedented trial: the main leaders of the Nazi regime are to be convicted for their crimes against humanity. Among them is former Reich Marshal Hermann Göring. American military psychiatrist Dr. Douglas M. Kelley is assigned to examine the charismatic, intelligent and manipulative Göring. During their conversations, they engage in a psychological duel. Kelley manages to gain Göring's trust and finds it increasingly difficult to maintain his distance.
